Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, one of the best art galleries in the world, will gift us with its presence at Art Basel Miami 2018. The gallery maintains its extraordinary contemporary program for over 20 years and now supports more than 30 renowned international artists.
Tanya Bonakdar’s mission is to showcase the best of all the different art fields: painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video, among others. It organizes more than ten rotation exhibitions by its artists each year.
The gallery was founded in 1994 at 130 Prince Street in New York City’s Soho neighborhood and it stayed there until the relocating in 1998 to 521 West 21st Street in Chelsea. In the beautiful spring of 2006, Tanya’s went through a major renovation and doubled its size, which allow it to expand its exhibition possibilities.
Since the beginning, the gallery always tried its best to nurture the careers of talented artists, like: Martin Boyce, Sandra Cinto, Mat Collishaw, Olafur, Eliasson, Teresa Hubbard/Alexander Birchler, Carla Klein, Ernesto Neto, Rivane Neuenschwander, Susan Philipsz, Analia Saban, Tomas Saraceno, and Thomas Scheibitz, among others. To help them, Tanya Bonakdar organizes their first solo exhibitions in New York and their debuts in the United States.
The artists it partners with are growing all the time, figures like Phil Collins, Mark Dion, Meschac Gaba, Mark Manders, Haim Steinbach, Sarah Sze, Gillian Wearing, Nicole Wermers, and more recently Lisa Oppenheim, Agnieszka Kurant, Slavs and Tatars, and Laura Lima are the proof.
However, its collaborative spirit does not end there, since it also creates partnerships with several art and design institutions around the world.
With the giant influence the Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, of course it could not be missing in the best and major international art fairs, like: Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, Frieze Art Fair London, Frieze Art Fair New York and The Art Show, organized by the Art Dealers Association of America.
