The fortunate visitors will have the opportunity to find classic designs by the great international 20th century masters, as well as creative works by today’s most innovative young artists. From classic and abstract antiquities to Art Nouveau, Deco, Mid Century Modern and the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s culminating in the latest work of emerging masters, The Salon welcomes everyone and showcases global creations for every taste.

David Gill Gallery (London) in The Salon Art+Design 2017: Not one to shy away from making a statement, David Gill Gallery unveiled a new chair by the sculptor/jeweller Michele Oka Doner, a new textural light sculpture from Barnaby Barford and several new works by Fredrikson Stallard, which were being shown in the US for the first time. The Salon’s success was born from the quality of its galleries and the art pieces they exhibit. Few fairs today include the diversity of both fine and decorative arts found at The Salon. They want nothing less than excellence and always to bring design and art together.

The Salon Art + Design 2017 invited an interior designer to participate for the first time. Marking her debut, New Yorker Amy Lau created a living-room environment titled ‘The New Nouveau’. Filled with showpieces from past and present – including a sculptural pink iron cabinet by Xavier Lust, hand-painted metallic wall panels by Calico Wallpaper and a specially commissioned light piece from Mary Wallis for Lindsey Adelman Studio– the sumptuous setting was a sight to behold. ©Peter Baker

Maison Gerard (New York) in The Salon Art + Design 2017: One of the highlights of Maison Gerard’s eclectic presentation this year was the work of the Washington-based interior designer Thomas Pheasant. Naturalistic in inspiration, yet delicately treated with an artistic hand, his crisp ‘Origami’ lounge chair and ‘Willow’ chandelier left a lasting impression. ©Robert Levin
The Salon exhibitors are carefully chosen for their detailed and creative way of presenting works of art and master craftsmanship that both predicts and reflects trends in the international culture of living. The intent of collectors and interior designers to create outstanding environments and not mere accumulations of objects is always in mind.

Starting with antiquities, the historic root of design, skipping centuries into early modernist Nouveau, Deco, and international mid-century furniture from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Asia, and Scandinavia. Provocatively put side by side we can see 20th century and contemporary lighting, glass, and ceramics, works of the late 20th century and spectacular creations of today’s most masterful young designers. Interlaced all over are European, American, and Chinese works of art. The Salon is a renowned event, its magical secret for success is never stopping trying to improve.
