The 2019 edition of <u><em><strong>NYCxDesign<\/strong><\/em><\/u> takes place from 10 to 22 May. Several events, exhibitions and installations will be spread across the city\u2019s five regions, including returning fairs, such as\u00a0ICFF,\u00a0WantedDesign\u00a0and\u00a0Brooklyn Designs, showroom parties and pop-up galleries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From a tiny home built by\u00a0Fernando Mastrangelo\u00a0to a colorful pop-up hair salon, here are the 10 showcases you should not miss:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>\u201cUrban Imprint\u201d by Studio INI at A\/D\/O<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From 17 May to 2 September, \u201cUrban Imprint\u201d, designed by Studio INI for the outdoor courtyard at A\/D\/O takes an avantgarde approach to notions of personal identity in cities.\u00a0The installation reimagines the connection between people and their built environment, allowing visitors to reshape their physical space and architecture as a result of their own movement. The project marks the debut of Workstead\u2019s <em>Chamber<\/em> collection and Calico Wallpaper\u2019s <em>Relic<\/em> collection, each exploring concepts of gravity and control. The exhibition brings together the critically celebrated sweethearts of the growing American design scene to produce intimate work for outdoors spaces. Photo: \u00a9Kin and Company<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Doorknobs: Beyond the Everyday<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From 16 to 26 May, we will be able to admire the exhibition that Gregory Beson and Sarah Templin curated for WantedDesign\u2019s Brooklyn showcase to elevate the humble doorknob\u2019s design status. Eighteen door handles will be created and presented in the event, with designs by\u00a0Claesson Koivisto Rune,\u00a0Jasper Morrison and Tucker Viemeister.<\/p>\n<p>WantedDesign Brooklyn at Industry City will highlight the campus\u2019 mission: to be a place where innovators and makers meet. This fair will feature exhibitions around design research, immersive installations, workshops, and cultural collaborations. Photo: \u00a9Egg Collective<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Fernando Mastrangelo Studio \u2013 FM\/S presents \u201cTiny House\u201d at Design Pavilion<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fernando Mastrangelo Studio, FM\/S, will reimagine the way we live through an interactive and sensory immersive \u201cTiny House\u201d sculpture. \u201cTiny House\u201d will utilize reclaimed materials, creating a fantastical space re-contextualizing the way second-hand materials are used and experienced. The house will host multiple Talks throughout the festival, have a dynamic LED wall emulating sunsets, scents in the garden, and a video depicting the process of manufacture of its signature sustainable material. Photo: \u00a9Fernando Mastrangelo Studio<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Romancing the Stone by Chen Chen and Kai Williams<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From 2 May to 1 August, the Future Perfect\u2019s Casa Perfect gallery provides the setting for a collection of stone objects by the New York based designers\u00a0Chen Chen\u00a0and\u00a0Kai Williams.
