Last monday, 21st January was a remarkable day in the Portuguese Design and Craftsmanship<\/strong> history. In Paris, the City of Lights, inside the outstanding Maison et Objet<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, the Talk conference \u201cPortugal: Eldorado archi, design, craft?\u201d<\/em><\/a> enchanted the audience, showing us how much the future holds for Portuguese contemporary art<\/strong> and design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Renowned speakers, as the designers Artur Miranda<\/strong> and Jacques Bec<\/strong> from Oitoemponto<\/strong><\/a>; the artist Joana Astolfi<\/strong> from Studio Astolfi<\/strong><\/a>; and Am\u00e2ndio Pereira<\/strong>, founder of Covet Foundation<\/strong> and CEO of Covet Group<\/strong><\/a>, shared their own ideas and knowledge about the possibilities that merging contemporary design<\/strong> and ancient crafting techniques<\/strong> in Portugal can bring to the creation of exquisite masterpieces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Portugal is celebrated as a cultural turism wonder<\/strong>, but it is now also becoming a sanctuary for professionals that work in the design field<\/strong>. Many, architects<\/strong>, designers<\/strong> and artists<\/strong>, choose to open their workshops, studios and ateliers in the country.<\/p>\n

Several ancient arts, as marble work<\/strong>, are a tradition in Portugal, showcased in a lot of exceptional monuments. Some materials, like cork<\/strong> and some woods<\/strong>, can be find in their finest quality<\/strong> state there and others, as exquisite veneers<\/strong> are brought from Brazil and Africa since the Discoveries. This old country is known for maintaining good relations of cooperation with other countries that were part of its history.<\/p>\n

Cities like Sintra<\/strong> and Estremoz<\/strong> were mentioned as examples of places in Portugal where refined materials are used in extraordinary interior design<\/strong> and architecture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
