The designers\u2019 imagination<\/strong> builds a post-apocalyptic, chimerical scenario which visually personifies their thoughts. They always dream of something innovative<\/strong>, something extraordinary<\/strong>, genuine<\/strong>, authentic<\/strong>, peculiar<\/strong> \u2013 a new reality.<\/p>\n

They love to explore the subtlest features of texture<\/strong>, material<\/strong>, volume<\/strong>, light<\/strong>, movement<\/strong> and contrast<\/strong>. Their pieces always seem to desire human interaction, it is what truly completes them. Often, Fredrikson and Stallard\u2019s designs are able to interact with the viewer, they are functional<\/strong>, not only aesthetically pleasing but also a treat to tactile sensations. The viewer is, indeed, part of the final piece, since their works are performative.<\/p>\n

In contemporary art<\/strong> and design,<\/strong> function<\/strong> and technology<\/strong> are essential and Fredrikson Stallard recognizes it. However, for them, emotion is equally important. Thought is not more significant than feeling, even though this post-industrial age tries to convince us of that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn our practice over the last twenty years, a hammer has been of equal importance to 3D computer software in the genesis and production of the work\u201d<\/em>, they confess, valuing the merging of technology<\/strong> with craftsmanship<\/strong> in the creative process.<\/p>\n

They love to be in between art<\/strong> and design<\/strong> with their creations, saying their work should be: \u201ctoo strange to be good design and too functional to be good art\u201d<\/em>, being ultimately both.<\/p>\n
