Michael Fargo<\/strong><\/a>, one of the best artisans in ceramic art<\/strong>,<\/em> and\u00a0craftswoman<\/strong> in this field. She was one of the talented artists finalists of the \u00a0Loewe Craft Prize<\/strong> \u00a0edition from this year.<\/p>\n

Fargo\u00a0<\/strong>was born in Israel in 1984, and she studied there at Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem<\/a>. Now she lives and works in Berlin, in Germany, where she has her own studio and teaches at the Berlin University of Arts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fargo starts her creative process via the unlikely method of carving foam, which is then dipped in porcelain and red.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In her collection Naturelike she <\/i>started sculpting in sponge<\/strong> and then firing<\/strong> it from<\/span> foam blocks until they take on the shape of vessels with a random natural appearance.<\/p>\n

After dipping them in liquid porcelain with a coloured stain, the vases are fired in an outdoor kiln.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To carve out the shapes with diferente surfaces, Fargo\u00a0uses her hands, a small saw and a Japanese knife.<\/span><\/p>\n

We can see her creative process in\u00a0colour and texture in her work.\u00a0Her work was already presented in several craftsmanship fairs and international exhibitions.<\/p>\n
