Studio Job<\/em><\/strong><\/span> was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets in the renaissance spirit, combining traditional<\/strong> and modern techniques<\/strong> to produce unique art pieces<\/strong>. At once highly specific and yet entirely universal, personally expressive and yet experimental, Studio Job has crafted a body of work that draws upon the classical, popular and contemporary design<\/strong> and highly visual and sculptural art<\/strong>. The work Studio Job<\/strong><\/em> creates is heraldic and regal even in its imagery. As sleek as the finished work can be, it is also instinctual and almost primal.<\/p>\n

Studio Job<\/strong><\/em> are pioneers of contemporary conceptual<\/strong> and sculptural design<\/strong>. The results range from unique bronze artwork<\/strong> in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, to a royal stamp featuring the Dutch King (forty million pieces produced) from the unique life-size bronze sculptures<\/strong> on Miami Beach, to the one-off Wunderkammer curiosity cabinet that Studio Job produced for Swarovski in Innsbruck. All Studio Job projects are distinguished by a love of detail, freedom of expression and blend of 2D and 3D. With more than 400 exhibitions, including solo shows, around the world Studio Job<\/em><\/strong>\u2019s work can be found in many important museum collections<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For the week of Salone del Mobile 2019 Studio Job<\/em><\/strong> launch their first private gallery and studio in Milan, as well as multiple ground-breaking new projects with the theme Bronze = Plastic and a range of new products.<\/p>\n

This year marks their 20th anniversary<\/strong>. They\u2019re doing Bronze = Plastic, a\u00a0boundary-pushing, sculptural series of light objects for the \u201cRE- PLASTIC MASTERS\u201d exhibition curated by Rossana Orlandi at the\u00a0Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia \u201cLeonardo da Vinci\u201d; House of Job,\u00a0their first permanent studio and gallery space in Porta Venezia in Milan;\u00a0and a collaboration with Qeeboo consisting of massive plastic sculptures made to look like ancient, oxidized bronze relics. They are also\u00a0introducing a number of furniture lines for brands including Moooi, Alessi and Lensvelt.<\/p>\n

Exemplifying Job Smeets\u2019 refreshingly preserved subversive bent, the Blow collection revives the \u201cuber-kitsch\u201d Lazy Chair in two paint-stroke upholstery fabrics: one inspired by Memphis (The Lazy Painter), the other by the American flag (The Lazy President).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
