Ethereal Garden, the translucent artwork of glass flowers, is born to challenge the traditional concepts of finest Craftsmanship. It’s a unique and exclusive stool created, by the renowed company Salviati, Venezia 1859, using the highest quality glass from the Italian Murano island over a clean contemporary design.
Ethereal Garden is a collectible artwork inspired by the natural elements with the ethereal look of glass to enhance the legacy of Arts & Crafts and to enrich the ancestral technique in a present-day design objet.
In spite of the excellent skills of the master artisans, the challenge to develop the original shape of the Carved stool, from Boca do Lobo collection, was considered impossible to surpass.
To pursuit a exquisite handcrafted work stands for pure dedication, meticulously daily effort and years of growing experience, by trial and error, and repeating, the final and unique masterpiece, the glass carved shape, very unusual for a glasswork, was achieved.
Using ancient and traditional techniques glass was heated, turned, molded and blown, through a thin iron pipe. First, three master artisans were needed just to put 40 kg of silica into the kiln, to blow hot glass, to sculpt and to handle the dimensions and weight of it.
In a continuous search for excellence three attempts and a week were dedicated to transform this conceptual piece into reality, after cooling. Floral elements of glass were sculpted and introduced carefully in the master piece,by the delicate craftsmen hands, following Murano’s tradition.
Ethereal Garden was conceived by the Culture for Arts & Crafts, a project supported by Covet Foundation where artisans, plastic artists, and designers keep alive the spirit of experimentation by challenging manufacturing skills of finest Craftsmanship to create the artpieces of excellence.
