During NYCxDesign, The Craft in Focus Festival presents several practical workshops, master classes and demonstrations by renowned international craftsmen. The visitors can expect to work with stained glass, violin making, hat design, calligraffiti, robot making for kids, basketry, mosaics, stone cutting, and much more.
The building 1 at Industry City will be specially transformed into a vibrant workspace, for all ages. This event was organized in collaboration with WantedDesign Brooklyn and IC Design Festival.
In a world where children are swiping their iPhones and 3D printers are building houses, the Festival feels like it is their mission to preserve the ancient art of true craftsmanship, and nurture it to flourish. This is a time of serial mass production and consumption; however, the beauty of handmade luxury quality pieces should be recognized once more. The knowledge of passionate, highly skilled, dedicated master artisans must be shared with the world.
