Covet Foundation had the exclusive pleasure to interview the remarkable David Alhadeff, founder of The Future Perfect art gallery, one of the best in the world. Now we unveil his answers, which allowed us to understand better the gallery’s unique character.
When asked about the concept he decided to follow to choose the selection of exquisite collectible designs to showcase at The Future Perfect, David explained: “We attempted to represent a small selection of work from all of our represented artists and makers. The work is mixed throughout the space creating a story telling opportunity that feels more lifestyle.”
Speaking about talented plastic artists, master artisans and designers which stand out from the rest, David confessed his admiration for the acrylic artist Philip Low “whose work is really special”. The Future Gallery proudly works with him and the founder said: “I think he manages to create and capture light and color in a way that feels really fresh”.
When challenged to pick the “crown jewel” from this year’s collection, David playfully claimed: “This is a Sophie’s Choice! I can’t pick a favorite, but I can nod to the incredible effort so many of our artists went to in order that we would have new exciting work for the debut of this space.” However, he was able to remind us of the “incredible wall shelf from Chris Wolston”, the “new one-of-a-kind mirrors from Ben and Aja Blanc”, the “new sculpture from John Hogan”, a “beautiful new Chamfer coffee table from Christ Stuart”, “over 9 new pieces by Reinaldo Sanguino”, the “ceramic sculpture by Jonathan Cross and Eric Roinestad” and the “ceramic furniture by Floris Wubben”.
David Alhadeff says with affection: “I’m humbled by how many of our artists worked day and night in order that we would be debuting work within our space”.
To the final question, “What do you believe to be the path The Future Perfect should follow to assure a bright future in the art and design field?”, David Alhadeff greeted us with a smile, clarifying they will “continue to do things differently and follow no path at all!”.
We hope to bring you more news about the incredible The Future Perfect gallery soon. Until then, stay with us to discover more about the best of craftsmanship, contemporary art and design.
