Shi Jianmin is one of the most cherished artists in China whose work involves fine art, design, architecture and landscape design.  Born in Xi’an in 1962, he graduated from the Xi‘an Art School in 1982 and completed his studies at the Central Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University in 1986. Shi Jianmin creates his masterpieces by fusing form, sentiment and poetry. In his design, the artistic concept is the core and the functionality of the object is often subdued by the sculptural form. Through his explorations of shape and the combination of several different elements unique pieces are brought to life.

The work of Florian Borkenhagen (b. 1959) willfully makes the distance between art and design vanish, he challenges the perception of everyday objects through his deconstructions and transformations. The prosaic found-object becomes an artwork and over its adaptation a deeper meaning is born. His pieces often invite interaction and provide a new view on reality by reusing recognizable objects in conceptual and humorous ways. Movement is also an important theme for Borkenhagen, both in the materiality of his dynamic sculptures but also in the journey itself.
