The talented sculptor René Broissand, represented by the art gallery Martel Greiner, one of the best exhibitors at PAD Geneve 2019, was born in 1926, son of French parents, in Tunisia, where he spent all his childhood. In his teenage years, he left his homeland to sail and spent most of his youth learning to be a metal worker, inspired by the all the places he visited around the world.

In the 50s he worked at the Navy Ministry in Paris, but later he left this job to devote himself to his selected material of expression: metal and especially stainless steel. At the end of the 50s, he met many artists using this material, it was a favorite due to its malleability and its great resistance.

Soon, he wished to test the limits of steel in art, so he kept on creating. In 1963, he participated in his first exhibitions in Paris, among other artists dedicated to metal work, such as César, Hiquilly, Guzman or Albert Féraud. From Basel to New York, he continued exhibiting for over twenty years.
