Milan Design Week 2019 is just around the corner and, as always, we have some advice to give you: don’t forget to visit the remarkable Bottega Ghianda Shop in Via Formentini 9, a paradise of exquisite craftsmanship.
Combining a deep sense of beauty and unique artisanal techniques, Bottega Ghianda is an authentic Italian treasure. The harmonious union of imagination and technical know‑how, thought, creativity and manual work, allows them to create true masterpieces.
The north region of Milan in the direction of Lecco is a sanctuary of arts and crafts tradition, coveted all around the world. At Bottega Ghianda, this artisanal heritage, that grew with fathers and was passed down as experience and knowledge to their sons for countless generations, reached its pinnacle.
The ability to work with all types of wood with an expert and dedicated touch, using joints that are complex yet subtle, is the distinctive trait of the ebanistas who have reached excellence over years alongside Pierluigi Ghianda. The workmanship of their pieces is now desired amongst connoisseurs and design luminaries.
A longstanding admirer, Romeo Sozzi, also a designer and passionate ebanista, with his sons Stefano, Davide and Paolo, bought the business from Pierluigi Ghianda shortly before his death. Thanks to him the artisans trained by Pierluigi Ghianda were able to continue their outstanding work.
Bottega Ghianda’s contemporary creations are, therefore, a result of this precious knowledge, skill and the most profound respect for tradition.
