Hunt Kastner art gallery, one of the best exhibitors to visit at Art Basel Hong Kong 2019, opened its doors in 2006 in response to the need for more professional representation of Czech artists both locally and abroad.

At the time the gallery was founded, there was no established tradition of commercial galleries in the Czech Republic presenting an international program and supporting the creation and exhibition of new contemporary art in a private gallery setting, or who actively represented and promoted the artists’ pieces abroad.

There were also very few Czech artists with any international recognition and no local commercial platform to nurture the younger generation of artists. The gallery’s aim is to maintain a renowned art gallery with a high-quality international program.

The gallery organizes 6-8 exhibitions a year, including solo exhibitions of in-house and invited artists, as well as curated group exhibitions. In 2017, they also opened a project space on site which hosts 3 additional exhibitions per year. Hunt Kastner has been participating in art fairs since 2007.
