Covet Foundation had the pleasure to talk with Rui Palmas from Mão de Fogo, an amazing project that repairs and builds bronze sculptures since 2001,for an exclusive interview. Rui confessed that all the art pieces they create are intricate and demand dedication and passion, this means the one which marks them most is always the current one they are working with.
However, he highlights their participation in the creation of I’m you mirror for Joana Vasconcelos’ atelier, due to the huge amount of talented hands involved and to the difficulty of working with such a colossal masterpiece.
Currently, they are focused on working bronze to create massive sculptures with exquisite finishes to give them a mirror-like shine.
Rui Palmas proudly believes in a bright future for Portuguese design as long as all thinkers and makers collaborate together to generate art pieces of the finest quality, able to be noticed in the global market.
The passion and dedication Mão de Fogo has for art is unbeatable. Over the last years, they planned and built wonderful craftsmanship projects. We can’t wait to see what they will create next.
